The event itself is very unique and also the people gathered in as well.
Anime enthusiasts/ otaku and other "normal" people have different personality and routine during an anime event and here are some:
FIRST TIMERS
-They wander around with their mind floating somewhere and actually don't know where or how to start and eventually enjoys the event (after they came back to their senses)
-Take pictures of anything (cosplayers, figures, exhibits)
COSPLAYERS
-The main attraction during the event
-With their headturner costumes, wigs and cool crafts, they are simply the instant celebrity/ public figures that caught everyone's attention.
-Maybe decline photograph session during breaks or it's up to them.
-The most exhausted group (1.going to conventions while carrying costumes/ large props, 2.going to dressing room to prepare dressing up, putting make up and details, etc., 3.posing to camera (having hundreds of shots in a day).
-I salute cosplayers to their hard work!
THE LONER
-These people are enjoying themselves wandering during conventions alone and doesn't care if it is weird because the main reason of attending the event is purely for the love of anime, manga and all otaku-related stuff.
"The freedom and contentment are best achieved when you're alone"- yours truly
COSPLAY PHOTOGRAPHERS
-Enthusiasts/ Professional Photographers have recognized this new hobby "Cosplay Photography" in which your main subjects are cosplayers. They combine their hobby and love for anime.
-They are finding interesting/ flashy/ great cosplay subjects to make an artistic photograph to include in their scrapbook or whatever they call it.
OTAKU PARENTS
-Having their child dress up as their favorite comic/ anime characters.
-Making sure that their children (especially teenage girls) are safe from perverts and harassers.
DRAG ALONG NON-OTAKU PEOPLE
-I am guilty!
-I am tired of joining an event alone so I invited my sister to come along. I really kept an eye on her to see how she reacts when we got there.
-Of course, the culture shock is common and being restless of seeing "weird" people in costumes are also inevitable. After some minutes, she also enjoy the event and somehow accepted my hobby. I think hahah.
No matter how different each invidual could be, We, Otakus, are united in reason ans that's the love (and obsession) for anime.......
OTAKU RULES!!
