A geeky saturday~

Every weekend, I promise to have my ME time (if I have the chance to go out). October 20, Saturday, I decided to go on a manga hunt on a very far place which I barely know. Actually I'm kinda familiar with that place, and I use google map to locate it (and luckily, I barely know the landmarks and route). I am used to go on an adventure alone, I grabbed that chance to buy manga. The problem is, it's raw, if only I can read and understand Japanese very well, but what the heck, I'll go hahah.

paradise, yeah it is~
By the time I got to the place, I'm so excited and giggly (mumbling to myself--again). The place is actually a Japanese surplus shop that sells not only manga and figures, but also furnitures, clothings. designer bags like Louis Vuitton, etc. At first, I can't find their manga section so I asked, he then brought me to PARADISE. I really though it was a library, I took  photos and video of the whole manga section. It's freaking awesome, damn you poor nihonggo knowledge.

I find it hard on where I'll start browsing, I don't know the manner of the arrangements, is it alphabetical (good luck), by genre, by publisher? i really don't know. And also the overwhelming Japanese characters everywhere, I think I'm gonna die...so dizzy.

Good thing I went there alone, because it really needs time to find a good manga. Mangas are dated from 2000-2005, I think.

Manga being read online?
In Japan, they spend more papers on manga than on toilet paper
Seeing the amount of effort of Mangakas in Japan are so overwhelming, and it is really a work paid-off if your manga will turn into an anime. But unfortunately, not all of them have this chance.

Reading manga online?

I wonder how Mangakas respond to this issue. I think I just started 5 years ago since manga are available online, many manga online sites are started to boom. I wonder how the mangakas will profit in these kind of "reading". And what about the printed manga? is this where the manga production started to overly produce? Oh I am so wrong, it's not overly produce, it is not just selling...because of online reading?? I think.

Grand Pop Culture Fair 2012

This event is organize by Otakuzine and KFest Events Management. The event title is quite catchy, it is REALLY catchy for me. Fair means tons of merchandises, which I really looking forward to. I'm with my niece, we got there VERY early and the ticket booth isn't open yet. Somehow i felt disappointed with the number of attendees in the con, and I am still keeping my hopes up--maybe the others are still on their way. By the time we got our tickets, I am crossing my fingers..hoping to see a paradise-like booths for an anime merchandise hunter like myself. We step in, I look around and my heart sank (I'm exaggerating--really). I saw few anime booths and the rest are Jpop and Kpop fan booths, I am not a fan in any of those. I am trying to keep convincing myself to enjoy the convention since I'm with my niece. I also saw my otaku acquaintance that I met at SM North EDSA during the Oh No Manga Cosplay Camp. Oh No! It is also the same day that OhNo Manga launches another event in SM Taytay, I badly wanna attend that con but it's too far.
I don't regret attending Pop Culture Fair, but somehow the comparison of the previous events I attended, this one is a flopcon (it's my opinion). The cosplayers are so few. The whole con is a disaster! haha just joking.
SAO poster hanging inside the hall.
This one is in auction later evening.

This one too~
For fanboys of Asuna~

GASHAPONS!
I felt like I am in Japan hahah
(poor me)

This Saturday~

This coming saturday, I'm going to an anime convention "The Grand Pop Culture Fair". This month has the most numerous events (i think). The event is organize by Otakuzine Phillippine (also the organizers of Ozine Fest, Otaku Expo, etc) and Kfest Manila Events Management. It focuses on the famous pop culture our country has now, which are JPOP, KPOP, Anime, Manga, Gaming, Cosplay, Toys and Merchandises.

I'm anticipating this event because my otaku niece is also going and it's very rare for her to attend anime conventions because she has a lot of schoolwork to do. This time, she's lucky hahah. It's also good news for me, finally I have someone with me.

I hope I can buy merchandises there, I also hope I have LOTS of money.
I'm planning to buy manga, enough for the figures for now.

Autumn Anime 2012 Part 3

(1) Code: Breaker- I love how the characters are drawn, there's so many interesting characters. The female main protagonist, Sakurakouji, is not your ordinary lead. She is a tough one, she is the best Aikido warrior in whole student body. Her grades are also topnotch. She is the very image of an idol that makes her the dream of many boys in their school. But one rainy night while riding in a bus, she saw people burning in blue flames in a park. And moreso, he saw the face of the man who did that. She then hurriedly call the attention of the driver, to stop the bus and call the police. As they go in the crime scene, they found nothing. No traces of ashes around or any suspicious man. Sakurakouji was so surprise, she is dead serious about what she saw last night. The next day in school, a familiar face turned out to be the transferee student. She definitely knew that the new transferee, Ogami Rei, is the suspect of the incident happened on that rainy night.

Ogami Rei is so cool!
kira~ kira~
so many bishies <3
She decide to tail Ogami after school but lost track of him. She gone right back to the park, the place of the incident, thinking of the culprit might return in the crime scene. Night falls, the G-falcon gang is up to no good (they are the culprit of killing a homeless old man living in the park with his pet dog, Sakurakouji was feeding the dog everyday), they beat a man while they're asking questions about the vanishing of their comrades in the park which happened 2 days ago. Sakurakouji then involve in the mess, thinking of the people she saw burning are also the comrades of G-Falcon gang. (I felt sad when the dog died, those freaking bastards are so mean). Ogami Rei then showed up and burn the whole gang with a snap, the blue flames are the hottest according to my class back in elementary.
Will Ogami Rei will also kill Sakurakouji?

(2) Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne (As Long as There's Love, It Doesn't Matter If He is My Brother, Right) - (man, that was mouthful!) I also predicted its harem genre, which is very obvious. The story is about the Himenokoji twins, Akiko and Akito. After six years apart due to the death of their parents, they are finally reunited to live in one roof. It seems that Akiko builds a BroCon or Brother Complex, it is having a incestuous love towards her sibling.
This series reminds me of Ore no Imouto ga konna ni wake ga nai (My little sister can't be this cute) another mouthful title hahah. Anyway, OreImou has SisCon though.
Honestly, I ship these siblings, haha not that I really have a complex or something like that. I think it's the storyline that makes me love the pair.

Thoughts about the Sword Art Online ARC ending

Honestly, I am not much of a reader so I don't wanna read the light novel of Sword Art Online (that's too tiring for my eyes hahah). Readers might predicted what had happened before they even watched the episode.
Anyway, I admit that I shed so much tears in the ending. I totally look like a moron, crying over some anime. I can't help it, it's too sad.

THE STORYLINE:

After defeating Skull Reaper, the boss monster in 75th floor, all of the frontliners are exhausted, and 14 of them died. Kirito's deduction are right, Commander Heathcliff's true identity is Kayaba Akihiko, the creator of Sword Art Online. Akihiko gave Kirito's a chance to have one-on-one duel, making other players undergone paralysis. The catch? If Kirito wins, all of the players will logged out of the game and finally clearing the game. Being the patriot and hero as we all know, Kirito accepts the duel. Using his Duel Sword Skill, he fights Akihiko to the max, but using a unique skill against its creator is really tough. Akihiko can block all of its combination and predict its move. In the middle of the fight, Kirito is really in a crucial state. Asuna saves Kirito then died. Kirito's really desperate that he uses all of his strength left, but his life bar goes yellow then red. But miracle happens, he stab Akihiko before Kirito's life bar has totally nothing.

He killed the supposedly 100th floor boss, Kirito cleared the game.
And back to the real world, he woke up in a hospital with intravenous bottle hook on him. Kirito was very thin and has long hair. He returned the survivors in the real world and he finally got to see Asuna too. Kirito's a hero.

I cried in the full episode of SAO arc. I felt my heart moved when he woke up and have the sudden will to find Asuna, that scene is so lovely.

I definitely watched the next arc, they are in ALO~

But what made them play again?

Autumn Anime 2012 Part 2

I don't wanna discuss all of this season's anime, I only wanna discuss those interesting shows (in my opinion).
Sore dewa, iku wa you!

(1) K project- This show got my attention because of their awesome preview and trailer. And also the characters are mostly bishounen.
Yashiro is the main protagonist
(the one with umbrella)
I am wondering why Yashiro is not in the middle, I mean he's the main protagonist right? (referring to the pic above).
I have high expectation in this series because it looks promising and I really love the graphics. And also the different perspective shots and some upbeat music suits every action scene.
Yata, I like his skateboard stunts

The story is not clear though, Yashiro Isana is a high school student, not really a cool type guy but everybody loves to share their food with him every lunch hour. He is rather a sunshine-type of guy, very kind and innocent. His life is normal until a group of somewhat gangster-like peeps trying to catch him, he's so clueless of what's happening. He is running for his life, in pursuit by a guy in a skateboard (Yata).

Kuroh Yatogami
Then he was saved by a cool guy (Kuroh Yatogami) that looks like a swordsman, is this guy good? or just another guy trying to kill him too? How about the explanation of a video of Yashiro killing someone? Is it really him?

Collecticon 2012

This is my first time going to Collecticon since I am a newbie figure collector. It is a heaven for every collector, there's so many variety of toys/ collectible items to choose from. The event is held at the Robinsons Manila, Midtown Atrium, and it is open to all mall goers.
Top view of COLLECTION
I also enjoy the auction, I bought a bag and a figure.

Here are some booths selling figures which I pass by so many times and still looking for a fig to buy
So many toys to choose from

some cute tshirt prints and other otaku stuff

these are umbrellas...hahha

comics for fans

Autumn Anime 2012 Part 1

There's a ton of interesting anime this season, and I can't help myself getting hook up with the series.
I must admit, after I finished college I am into watching new series. During my school days, I am really busy and so focused on studies that I missed all the awesome and interesting anime. So I am backing up this time, while I have TONS of time in my hands.

Sore de wa, start-o !!

(1)Wooser no Sono Higurashi- one word for the series, KAWAII~ This series is has very short timeline, spans less than 4 minutes. It is the life about a bunny and a girl. Though I am not quite sure of the plot, I just happen to download it. The graphics are really for the little kids, it is an eye-candy for me. The atmosphere of the show is calm and innocent. I am not sure if this series can attract viewers though, but it's really cute. (How many times I said the word "cute"?)
Wooser no Sono Higurashi

(2) Kamisama Hajimeshimashita- It is a story about a girl named Momozono Nanami who happens to kick out her own apartment due to her father's debt, it is really a big problem no to have a place to stay...but all of it changes when he save a man named Mikage being attacked by a small dog while she's at the park. Being grateful of what she did, Mikage offers her a home without her knowledge that he is an Earth Deity and passes his godly powers/responsibility to her. She then arrive at an old shrine with some unearthly beings, and they called her "GOD"...and on top of that, There's also a demon fox named Tomoe who doesn't agree of her being the new deity, How can a normal student stand a chance of being a deity? (phew! it's hard to narrate the first ep..hahha)

This is a romantic comedy that surely fans will love, I am going to keep an eye on this show.

Nanami received a kiss for Mikage,
a sign of passing his deity powers to her
a God's duty?

Nanami being attacked by an old hag demon,
Tomoe came to rescue her??
